Hello, I am Ícaro Fonseca. I am interested in digitalisation and application of information technology to the maritime industry. Academically, my research areas are digital systems integration, data management, and interoperability. In corporate settings, I contribute best by bridging technical and business aspects of digital projects to ensure developed solutions address operational needs.
I am Business Technologist at Hecla Emissions Management, a company focusing on providing services for compliance of transport vessels with respect to regulations for greenhouse gas emissions, especially the European Emissions Trading System (EU ETS). Hecla EM is a joint venture between Wilhelmsen Ship Management and Affinity (Shipping).
I am also Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Ocean Operations and Civil Engineering at NTNU in Ålesund. There, I collaborate with the Smart European Shipbuilding (SEUS) project, which aims to streamline data usage through vessel life cycle stages.
